Two decade or more ago, most of us wouldn’t have even dreamt of having a virtual marketplace; a place where you can buy products or services online, sitting at home browsing multiple sites at the same time. We never even dreamt that a platform (particularly social mediums) would change the way business is conducted. Today, we are blessed with the opportunity of placing ads and running campaigns on platforms at affordable rates and in return we get more reach than through traditional means and the conversion rates are higher. Another added benefit is that we can track who visited our site and took action.
All this changed in a small span of time. Not long ago did we use Facebook or Twitter for connecting socially but now we’re using such platforms for business and ‘pleasure’.
Gone are the days when we’d have to solely go to e-commerce sites and hunt for something we want. Now, we can engage with ads on our newsfeeds and what’s even better is that such platforms only show you ads you’ve previously shown interest in. I’ve studied social media for a long time and I even ran a couple of ads to see what results it would harbor and let me tell you, the response was quite great.
You can set specific locations, target a certain age group and genders and even run ads in different languages, all at a reasonable price. You’ll be surprised at the fact that many startups and other firms are doing quite well because of this feature but one thing we shouldn’t forget is that not all businesses can survive the competition and not all products and services are meant to be showcased on social media.
